Oh my sweet potatoes!

JULY 28 - It's hard to believe that Mateo is already starting on solids. Today he had his first taste of sweet potatoes. He was quite the willing participant at first (photo 1) but as you can see his inital reaction (photo 2) once he realized that what he was eating wasn't oatmeal. But being the good eater that he is, he finished his 1 oz. without complaining. Ric and I argued as to who got to feed him first. I lost out, but still enjoyed the moment. And yes, Mr.Quincy was also waiting for his first taste of sweet potatoes that day too. Yummy : )

Indecisive

Today Mateo couldn't decide where he wanted to be and what he wanted to do. He would cry and try to roll out of his bouncy to get to his play mat. So I would take him out and put him ON his play mat. What does he do? He rolls himself OFF the play mat and lays on the carpet, while kicking his bouncy and playing with his play mat toys. He's either indecisive or just wanted a bit of both worlds.

Chubby Gopher

JULY 27 - I know it's cruel but he'll never remember the day his mom put a gopher head cap on him. I think it's SO stinkin' cute though. I'm a huge Gymboree fan and this was one of my favorite purchases for my 'lil man.

5 MONTHS OLD!

JULY 26 - To celebrate his 5-month birthday, Mateo decided to roll himself into a human burrito. Any other time he'd just roll from his mat onto the carpet but today he was grabbing ahold and rolling until he was snug as a bug in a rug. Happy 5 months Mateo! XOXO... Mama

Le Tour de France

JULY 25 - In honor of the 2007 Le Tour de France, Mateo wore his "B is for Bike" romper.

You Scream, I Scream...

... We all scream for Nottawa Ice Cream! Mmm, mmm, yummy. Too bad the little dude couldn't partake, but we gladly did on his behalf.

Water baby

JULY 6 - (1) Mateo's first dip in a pool. (2) Mateo's first trip out to the lakehouse. He is stylishly sporting infant swim shorts from H&M. And, yes, he did have sunscreen on.

Gymini time

JULY 6 - God bless the play mat! Mateo has such a blast on this thing.

Crack Baby

JULY 3 - Mateo's crib wasn't yet put back together, so he had been sleeping on his mattress on the floor. I put a featherbed on one side just in case he rolled off. When I went in to check on him during his nap, this is how I found him. He had rolled into the crack between his mattress and the featherbed. He really didn't seem to mind his predicament, but I'm sure that Child and Family Services or Pediatricians everywhere would be mortified. (No worries; he has since been sleeping safely in his crib.)

Bye-bye Condo

JULY 2 - Our farewell picnic at the condo. Today was our last day to get our stuff moved out. It was bittersweet, but we love our new house. Mateo only spent 4 months in his first home.

Mmm...oatmeal

JULY 1 - Mateo had his very first taste of organic oatmeal cereal. He wasn't too fond of it at first, but now he can't seem to get enough of it.

JULY 1 - Who needs a binky? Fingers work just fine! (He slept this way through his entire nap.)

Lovefest

JUNE 25 - Mateo just couldn't decide who makes a better nap buddy, so he took them both!
